The Wiebners
At the WiebLab in Lancaster PA, where i had a chance to be a special guest speaker and talk about what i’m most passionate about. If you’ve never seen their work, go check them out: thewiebners.com. Lancaster is such a cool and beautiful town, this for me was a nice chance to warm up and practice for the veryaltf tour which the Wiebners will be hosting us in August on the 4th and 5th.
josh and michelle were two of the models for the workshop shoot. The location was killer, it was an old brick building that was being restored.. beautiful colors and cool models…

Saw this fan and i thought of Steve Bebb and i just had to shoot with it. Is it sad when you copy yourself.
John,
Cool shots as always! Glad you are getting all warmed up for Very AltF. Ready to meetcha and hear you down in Atlanta!
cya,

Beautiful light. Can’t wait for Atlanta…

saw this 1/2 price wedding photography while on one of my morning walks. At first i thought i wanted to laugh but then i thought, 1/2 price of what.

Interviewed
Just before the kick off of the wieblab, i was interviewed. Of all the times i’ve been interviewed this past year, this host must be my favorite. First i was interviewed by my friend Jason Domingues for his new Podcast. And since Jason is a friend and is pretty familiar with my work he knows just the right questions to ask. Also, Jason had all this professional recording gear that made my voice sound just low and sexy during the interview.. Hopefully that’ll translate when edited into the podcast. BTW Jason is an Antiworkshop alumni and will also be hosting the veryaltf tour at the Kansas City stop. Check out his blog, his site, and of course the new podcast.

What a great idea!

John, really love the post processing on the last image! It was great to be part of the anti-workshop, thank you, thank you!

Would you want these two as mentors? Then you better get on it! Once again we are participating in the Thirst Relief Mentoring Auction which go live on February 9th at 10am EST. (all times listed through out the auction are based on Eastern Standard Time).
Get on to bid at http://www.fotoverite.com/joomla/index.php - just click on the Thirst Relief banner and register to bid. Each mentoring auction has a different ending time. However, when the auction is supposed to close, if there is a bidding war happening then the auction will stay open until the bidding war ends - so put on your fighting gloves.
We are taking this thing one step further - not only is your cash going to a worthy cause but we are offereing one tuition to any open city of your choice for the Very Altf Tour.
Can’t make it? You also have the chance to become active in the cause of Thirst Relief by becoming a monthly $5 donor. Five dollars saves a life. It would be an amazing gift and a visionary movement if every photographer helped save one life a month for one year.
tried bidding on you but the servers over at fotoverite crashed. would have loved to chat one on one again.

JMC can do Photo-booth
isn’t my wife fucking hot! So our daughters sweet 16 party i thought i’d set up a “photo booth” style set. Its more like a high key shoot but some have been coining it as photo booth sets without the “booth” thing … Anyway, Doug Boutwell did this (probably started this trend) photo booth thing a long time ago and his quality of light was very Avedonish. So breaking out my old studio gear, dusting off my old skills, and then realizing i’ve become a little lazy so then i compromised and did a simple over and under lighting set and just ran with it. Realizing “american west” look was far from achievable i simply let the “photo booth” genre take over… still got some fun stuff… here’s the slide show.

All three of your ladies are beautiful, John. Your shirt rocks. The new glasses rock, too. ![]()
thanks dustin,
yes all the ladies in the house are beautiful.. thats why i have been forced to perfect my kung fu grip skills merely out of self preservation.
Beautiful family John!
