Gothenburg Rocks

Göteborg rockar fett
Yes, Gothenburg ROCKS! This week I had the chance, for the first time, to visit Europe and namely - Sweden. Scandinavian Photo, a super cool camera store, brought me out to Gothenburg to speak for 2 days of their workshop. Beautiful city, friendly people, and talented photographers. A Nikon rep was there on day one to lend me any lens in the Nikon’s arsenal, a 200 f2, 200-400, sb800’s, and of-course D3’s ….. what a toybox of gear we had.. even top of the line lighting from Profoto which we used both days to over power the sun. Day 2 was special for me because I had the chance to remember some of my roots and shoot on medium format cameras. Martin, a rep for PhaseOne let me shoot on the first ever PhaseOne Camera in the world. If you’ve never shot medium format cameras before you are in for a treat. The files are so sharp and so large (39mp!) that I could count every eyelash and goosebump on the models. (I’ll post more about that on the dwf soon) . Along with the PhaseOne camera, Martin gave me a chance to go down memory lane with a Hasselblad 501cm sporting a p45 back (Gothenburg is home to Hasselblad), I felt like a kid again. Thanks to everyone who attended, everyone at Scandinavian Photo, and special thanks to Jenny Blad who was my guide while I was there and who also arranged the entire wonderful experience, (I’ll post her session with her cool husband, Robert, soon) . I’m starting to miss Sweden already. The following are some of my favorites from the workshop.

It rocked having u here John Michael! I felt really sad when u left. I never spend time with my friends - either i´m to busy or I don´t have the energy. Now I had u to hang out with for three days in a row - so it felt like I lost a friend when u left - even though we hardly know eachother! Maybe this will be my alarm clock to start making time for my friends or I won´t have any left!
I know u can check out the pictures on the attending peoples blogs but apart from Erikas (who write in english) u won´t understand them. To translate what I have seen on all of the blogs is that everyone are overexcited and happy about the workshop!
I hope i´ll see u again sometime in the future!
Hugs on ya!!!

John,
I couldn’t make it to Gothenburg (it’s a bit too long of a travel - expensive), but I know how excited Jenny has been planning this and how happy she was when it was over, that it was such a huge success!
I hope you and your better half could come to Sweden again and visit, and perhaps we can meet half way - in Stockholm or something.
Love your images from the workshops!

Thank you so much for the workshop! It really inspired me and made me start rethinking things in my business - starting to see outside the box
I’ll email you the picture I shot of you and the BIG lens soon as well.
Thanks again!
