a full wedding day and a bridal the following day, means a whole lot of play time with this more then wonderful couple.. …

Below: “homage Avedon’s ‘Homage to Munkacsi’”

“homage to Munkacsi direct”

Those shots with the umbrella are killer! I’m always amazed at how you find inspiration, then use it, then move on to something else that’s just as cool. I guess I’m trying to say that you always keep it fresh and I’m excited to see what you come up with next ![]()
Gorgeous images, inspiring as always ![]()
I just love watching your wheels turn John, especially after hearing you talk about all of your ideas. ![]()
This couple certainly looks like they had a lot of fun!
oh my gosh! these are amazing! i love every shot. the texture of the overhead umbrella shot, the starkness of the white couch and backlit shots. awesome job man! very inspiring.

Day 31. home… it feels really good to be here

I gots me one of them there monkey’s! So very cool!
Just a note to say I watched thru the whole trip. Spectacular accomplishment and monumental effort. Congratulation! Aw heck, I’ll give you a few of them - Congratulations
Peter
Ahhh…the monkey appears! ![]()

Day 30. The final workshop.
Thanks to Laura Hannah and Paige Eden of L’amour De Vie we ended our workshop with a great group in a prime location - Denver, CO. The weather was superb which allowed the set up of the final conceptual shoot for the tour. Bringing the Very Altf Logo to life was easy with Heather Lilly’s willingness and sense for diversity.

And the prestige couple for our morning shoot: Caroline & Dan - they had no problem rockin’ our world.

WOW! HOW?

Day 29 - meet Rich, Lulu, Jamie & Carley. Our arrival to Denver was uplifting once we met with this loving family - who drove over 16 hours to get to us.
We later met with the delightful Summer, Heather, Chris and Coral

A few shots of the city..
And of course… a little entertainment

Day 28.
Another travel day…. we accidentally found the road to OZ. Now that’s luck…

I’m so jealous of everyone that got to hang with you guys! Why don’t you just continue across to California, down to LA, THEN go home???

day 27.
We had a tiny bit of downtime today allowing us a little trip around the city with our bad ass host, Jason Domingues.

John snapped a few shots during our little tour..

As luck was on our side - we got to hang out with Jason’s super cool, super rad wife, Allison (who I plan to pursue as a future friend, travel and shopping companion - sorry J, the wife is entitled to some girl time). Not to mention, we enjoyed some pizza and park time with the tots. Next - a few fun shots of the “happily ever afters”…

And last, a great way to end our Kansas City experience… a night time Pay it Forward.
Avery, Allison, Jason and Calen

Big hug, we miss ya already!

ahhhh!!! the Domingues family! some of my favorite people in the whole world! those glasses look great on you guys! enjoy the rest of the tour!
hello,
i landed on your blog from the bf stop. i just had to say hello, as a recent post of mine features pics from kc. (back one page to see more than my smiley face!) so random to come to your page and see my fave city featured here too! gorgeous work! thanks for sharing and please stop by to say hello when you have the time!

Day 26.
Kansas City welcomed us with sunshine, rain, fluffy clouds and some flying monkeys. Darn those flying monkeys, John sure does not like them…

A little Altf Spin on Dorothy and that scary scene that was embedded into most of our heads at such a young age. Kind of cliche for Kansas but we are tourists, ya know… Thank you, Sarah, for playing the part so well.
And our morning portrait session with Jessica & Todd

The oh-so-charming: Jenni, Ashlyn, Todd and Lauren

Last but never least… a little video for ya
-dc
That first shot of Jessica and Todd is just exquisite. Yum.
Rad monkeys!
LOVE the flying monkey idea! awesome. the lighting on the hairy creatures is quite nice ![]()
This is my favorite shot! Seriously, don’t know why but I’m really drawn to it. She just fits perfectly. Keep it rockin!
whoops I’m talking about the first monkey shot. hehe

Day 25 - another travel day.
On our one day adventure from Athens to Kansas City, we saw a little of that well known combination: something old, something new, something borrowed and something blue… Maybe you can find them all?
Our 1st family of the day at a rockin’ cool location: Jennifer, Malachi, Stacey & Gabe

And the darling: Jenny, Lia (the youngest PIF attendee at 3 weeks old), Max, Ava and Josh.

25 days on the road and still maintaining most of our sanity…
-dc
Thanks again for choosing us for the Pay it Forward Shoot! That shot is every bit as chaotic as our family ![]()
We LOVE our photo! Thank you guys so much. Jennifer says she figured out all four…The location was as awesome as I remember it.
[...] My family and I got the opportunity to have our family photo taken by the totally rad John Michael Cooper of AltF as a part of his pay-it-forward project. You can check out our awesome photo at JMC’s blog. [...]

Day 24
Athens, Illinois
The Longbranch Tavern in Athens was the perfect setting for this conceptual image. Go through your kids toy boxes to find their 3-D glasses from that box of cereal they got a few months ago to see the full potential of these two images. A little journey back in time…

Rochelle and Jeff did not even hesitate when we asked them to model… then they brought along one of their wicked cool cars - a 1940 Ford

Adrienne & Dan were attending the workshop and were game for a little modeling in the morning.

As the day wrapped up, we ended with a great family for our Pay It Forward shoot - Meet Hilda, Eric, Roger and Ryan

And, of course…. the little “clip of the day”. Enjoy!

brilliant series. love how you played with the flash. did you use a bare flash off camera behind fence & some softer light in front for the fence shots ? would appreciate you sharing a lighting diagram or something

John,
What brand/model of video light do you use? Your photos are beautiful.

The lighting in this set is gorgeous. (Not that all your lighting isn’t, it is) The way certain parts of the face jump out of the screen is amazing.
