First Car in Studio

January 31st, 2010

Hey there, don’t drool on the screen please…  This is not only our first car to be photographed in our studio (yes, we can shoot cars in our place) but it is also my first time ever to photograph a car in a studio environment.  So here you go - enjoy the very sexy lines of this 1967 Jaguar E-Type.  Don’t critique my work too much, this shoot was more of an experiment with me still dusting off some old studio skillz (yep, that’s skillz with a z cuz that’s how I roll) and working only a single speedlight with some newly acquired radio poppers.

And of course I have to have a dashboard shot.

and some tire tracks to show the scale of our big white background.

.john.

ps.  thanks Joel for letting me play with your car!

NICE!!! Jealous of that CYC! Loving the overhead shot, very cool.

  2. R. J. Kern

Great to see your passion outside of shooting brides. The images are very YOU!

  3. Heather

    Yummy.

  4. Cliff Brunk

The E-type Jag is the sexiest car ever produced, and I think ‘67 was even the best year. Way to do it justice.

  5. Catlin

Oh no you didn’t! LOVE these shots, that car is sexy.

  6. Megan

I don’t see what there is to critique really. . .you’ve done a magnificent job. Not that it’s hard to do - but you’ve made this jaguar look sleek(er) and sex(ier) than it already is. Nice work!

  7. Chelsea Nicole

haha, I love it! Can’t wait to see the new studio! It looks HUGE.

  8. Joel

Sweet. The last shot kicks ass

  9. Tracey Kumer-Moore

    shwwwiiing:)!!

I want one!! love the tire track image.

Mike and Suzy

January 30th, 2010

Mike and Suzy! Photographers engaged!  I absolutely love to shoot other photographers.  First I feel honored and then I feel challenged to push into a little bit of “different”.   Mike and Suzy, from Tri-Coast and Suzy Min Photography, are very well known and respected photographers in our industry so when they emailed us to ask if we would shoot their first engagement session (they’ll have more) my response was “fuck yeah!  Come on down!”.  Mike is pretty much a master of off camera flash and can work a set of radio poppers like there is no tomorrow.  So what do I do when I have this caliber of a photographer in front of my lens….  well, I avoid flash like the plague and pull out a big florescent fixture to do some painting with light, then after that I play with my old hollywood lights and do some classic portraits.  Mike and Suzy, congratulations, I cant wait to see what all the other photographers create for you.. !

What a hot couple! Great images too!

  5. Mandi Nikole

Love the noir feel to these. I love shooting with a noir affect.

  6. Brian

Alright, I’m digging the effect of the florescent light painting. The Hollywood lighting is rightfully making a comeback, I have to admit I’m kinda getting bored with flash too.

Congrats to Mike and Suzy! Congrats on your new studio too, I’m looking forward to seeing the killer stuff you’ll be producing with it!

  7. daniel kudish

these are gorgeous. awesome shoot jmc!

  8. Dorothy Snyder

Absolutely LOVE these! What a great idea to go for the old hollywood lighting for engagement photos, it’s very classic and you did a really great job. :)

This couple looked stunning for their December wedding at Montelago Village at Lake Las Vegas

Their interactive reception was filled with games, songs, entertainment and big announcements on their honeymoon and future move to an exotic location!

Ceremony: La Contessa Yacht, Lake Las Vegas

Reception: Riva Di Lago, Lake Las Vegas

Hair and Makeup: One Luv Agency

Floral and Décor: Weeds Floral

A few weeks later, John got together with these two for a super cool bridal session.  Las Vegas once again pulled through with some really cool weather - cold and wet and just perfect for some added drama for great photos.

Theresa, Kyle & Harley

January 15th, 2010

Anyone who has met me probably knows that I am as much of a dog lover as I am a shoe lover so when Theresa mentioned that Harley was going to come along for their engagement session, I was giddy to meet him!  He totally hammed it up for John too - hope this guy makes it for the wedding day!

Doesn’t Theresa have gorgeous hair?  I kinda want to touch it but that might be inappropriate..

Yes, as seasonally deprived as Las Vegas is, you can still find some color if you look close enough..

Then we ran out for a little downtown scene - always our fav!

So fun!  This couple’s super cool wedding will be posted soon - it’s just a few sweet weeks away!

These are probably my favorites you have ever done. Shows a different approach to light that I have not seen you use. Bravo for your first Studio shoot!!

Karen & Kenneth

January 9th, 2010

These two gorgeous New Yorkers brought their beauty to the city of lights for some nuptials and clean portraiture as our first official bridal session in the new studio

of course, we can’t take all the credit, Karen & Kenneth had the looks and poise that most photographers wish for but the icing on the cake was their down to earth demeanor and sweet disposition

The studio session was a hit and we could have hung our hats with what we had but Las Vegas was offering the rarity of a wicked storm complete with clouds and rain that was calling for our attention.  Knowing we must act fast, we headed out as quickly as possible….Below are just a few of some killer images.

Though the sunset looks warm and inviting, the cold actually cut to the bone but you wouldn’t know that by looking at these two proving just how hard core they really are…

Karen & Kenneth - we hope to catch you next time we are in the city!

As always, absolutely breathtaking. I do not understand how you two manage the level of genius you’ve got while still being amazingly personable and down to earth. We love you!

P.S. Karen’s dress is hands-down one of the sexiest (without even coming close to trashy) wedding dresses I’ve ever seen. It’s a hard line to walk - and most brides end up looking skanky. But she looks phenomenally classy and brutally hot at the same time!

  2. Kyle

Long time fan of AltF but this is the first time I’ve commented. Just felt way too inspired by this session not to say something…LOVE the bride’s style + your rocking photos. Win all around.

Jessica and Mick’s Downtown Vegas Engagement Session was anything but dull.  Equipped with their own entourage we cruised some of Las Vegas’ shadiest scenes with nothing but ease

Trying to work up a sweat on Mick to help him feel more as if he were at home in Humid Texas..

This fab couple rocked their best poses - oh, what will the wedding day hold?

Totally looking forward to the big day!
