Meet the best Dental team in Las Vegas! We were lucky enough to find Doctor Sidhu several years back and a trip to the dentist office now has a whole new meaning for the Altf family! Not only do I recommend him to all of my friends and family but to anyone who is or isn’t looking for a dentist. seriously. go see them. right now. go.
Below the oh-so-cool: Dr. Jessy Sidhu, Leslie, April, Angela, Karrah and Sheila
Remember that awesome couple that transformed their bodies before their wedding with the help of an awesome personal trainer? Here is his new ad that we put together for his Miss USA training
For a couple of years now I have wanted to build a simple wall set as an homage to the great Irving Penn. Well, I’ve kept putting it off. That all ended when I got a call from Mindy who wanted something a little different for her PR shot. So off to Home Depot for some supplies and…. presto! a simple little corner. I’m really not sure what intrigues me about Irving Penn’s images that were shot in the “corner” but I intend to find out by exploring and experimenting all this month with this simple background.. Mindy’s PR images, the reason for getting the idea in gear, is my first use of it and I’ve twisted it just a little. If you are not familiar with Irving Penn, just google him under images and I’m sure you’ll understand why his images are so iconic.
Yes, I Have Mariachi Pants! Thank you Jimmy and Sanne! Our grand opening party was a huge success, not just because I was wearing some of the coolest pants ever made, but because we had so many friends, family, clients and vendors that showed up to party and support us in a 23 year old dream to have our own studio. Thank you, thank you, thank you! If you missed the party of the year, I will give you a small recap. We had a Cool band doing some great covers - Dean Cortez, Greg Diaz and World Famous Drummer, Joe Esposito in form Southern CA, and killer DJ - Mike from Good Vibrations - spinning and keeping the party going and lighing up the studio making it more like a club, of course we have to hand it to Randi from Naakiti for transforming our ultra cool space to an even ULTRA-ER cool place, The crew at Ice Occasions for literally cooling some hotness down, JR Lighting for equipping us with some fun toys to play with, William Pfersching for providing the delicious cuisine, Lori White for making Dalisa beautiful and finally, to Loftworks for providing a unique and exsquisite location to fit our brand, lifestyle and business.
Congrats on the big opening! We wish we could have made the trek back to Vegas! The studio looks fabulous! Looks like the party was sick! Congrats again!
Thanks for the invite. It was a great night. You both revolutionized the world with your anti-bridal sessions that caught the world on fire (no pun intended) with “Trash the Dress”. I can hardly wait to see what level you take studio portraiture. You guys a cutting edge artist with no boundaries. Wishing you the best!!!
Everything was totally awesome. I can’t wait to get into the studio with you two for some family portraits. John, you made the pants look good!!! =) Dalisa, you looked great too. See you guys when we get back from Vietnam.
Congrats kids! The space looks fantastic. Also, thanks so much for talking w/ me at length during DWF in Nashville. I was the guy that accosted you in the lounge and kept buying you wine so I could pump you for ideas. Best to both of you.
Waaaaay cool studio, may just have moved to the top of the list of awesome creative spaces… And you get to live there too!!! Congratulations to you and your family.
Hey there, don’t drool on the screen please… This is not only our first car to be photographed in our studio (yes, we can shoot cars in our place) but it is also my first time ever to photograph a car in a studio environment. So here you go - enjoy the very sexy lines of this 1967 Jaguar E-Type. Don’t critique my work too much, this shoot was more of an experiment with me still dusting off some old studio skillz (yep, that’s skillz with a z cuz that’s how I roll) and working only a single speedlight with some newly acquired radio poppers.
And of course I have to have a dashboard shot.
and some tire tracks to show the scale of our big white background.
.john.
ps. thanks Joel for letting me play with your car!
I don’t see what there is to critique really. . .you’ve done a magnificent job. Not that it’s hard to do - but you’ve made this jaguar look sleek(er) and sex(ier) than it already is. Nice work!
Congratulations John and Dalisa,
SO happy for you guys! I know it will be a totally rockin’ place!
Can’t wait to see what you guys do with it. I know it will be uber cool!
Congrats,
db
Wow! I know the beauty on the outside is only a prelude to what’s to be expected on the inside! Huge congrats to both of you on making this dream come true! All the best!
You two are awesome, can not wait to see your new space. For those whose who do not know we have a local studio and had the privilage of having John and Dalisa photographed our wedding and we could not have been more pleased and can not wait to see their new studio.
Man this is so so cool, kinda reminds ya of a talbots or something.. branding does play a great part but when you got killer imagery such as yours it all flows together one day i hope to get there!!
If Dalisa and I were more secretive this might just be a teaser post saying that “we have some super secret exciting news and we can’t let the cat out of the bag just yet but please keep checking back later for our uber cool announcement”. But, as most of you know, Dalisa and i are pretty open about our business and the direction that our photography is headed. So, when we committed today and set in motion the fulfillment of a 23 year old dream, we just could not wait to tell everyone.
The announcement: After 23 years of waiting and dreaming we are finally opening up under our name and brand - our very own kick ass Studio!
What would get me out of bed at 4:30 in the morning with a bad cold after recovering from an intensive 2 day workshop? The opportunity see the RED camera in action. Now for those that know me, I am more about the photographer than his camera, but I am occasionally seduced to geek out with some new tech especially if that gear seems to be changing the industry. Jonathan Rubin was doing a master class for wppi and I more than volunteered to be their guide out to the dry lake bed solely for a small glance at this camera. As Jonathan shot stills of the model (sorry no pictures), I was only watching Chase Bowman operate his RED camera - soaking in as much as I could with the little time I had there.
Our industry, I believe, is on the verge of a big change. New brushes to add to the box and more colors to our palette. Hopefully we’ll all improve our products without diluting our worth and deliver to our clients pieces of work that exceeds expectations..
We were ecstatic when the Editor in Chief of Bridal Bloom Magazine called to inquire on working with us on a shoot in Las Vegas. We were on board and, of course, had to call in the “big dog” of Hair and Make-up, the fantastic Ms. Lori White. Rose, the Art Director at Bride & Bloom found our amazingly talented model, Diana and put together some breathtaking wardrobe combinations for this Rockinrolla’ - type photo shoot at the infamous Neon Museum.
Thanks to all who helped make this shoot so scorchin’!
Have been following your blog for a minute… LOVE the photos from this shoot. Not the mention how fantastic Bride & Bloom is for a visual-obsessed bride like I was…
Brilliant work, John. A few of us who were watching you work at the DWF convention were wondering when you start hitting the fashion photography circuit.
John ~
Your mom & dad stopped by today for a visit, they told me to check out the website,, You have a proud mama(:
