Photography and blog post by John Michael Cooper
We often meet couples well after they’ve been engaged but every once in a blue moon (and thanks to the planning of Andrea Eppolito) we get to be there right from the beginning and photograph the very moment of the proposal. If you think weddings are full of nervous anticipation just put yourself in Steve’s position while he goes down on one knee. And as you can see by Erica’s reaction in the image below that she didn’t hesitate to say YES!
As a photographer, who’s job is to capture moments, it is so nice to be a part of that very first moment.

So, what do you do the day after you get engaged? Well, Steve (knowing Erica’s love of photography) set up a studio engagement session in advance so we spent a couple of hours the next day playing in the studio getting some beautiful images of these two! BTW, if you are a hockey fan, you might recognize Steve as THE Steve Ott, an NHL star playing for the Buffalo Sabres (formerly Dallas Stars). Now, I don’t watch much hockey, but from the videos that I’ve seen of Steve dishing out punishment during a game it all seems opposite off the ice for this very down to earth, fun loving, beautiful couple.

Now just by happenstance I was photographing another vintage Bentley earlier that day, and yes…. I could’nt resist using it as a prop.  It’s a 1929 4.5 litre LaMans… It’ll have its own blog post of course, very soon.

Steve and Erica:  Congratulations and Thank You for allowing me to be apart of an awesome beginning! – .jmc.
