Fashion Forward 2015 winners

Junior League of Las Vegas is an organization of women committed to promoting voluntarism, developing the potential of women and improving communities through the effective action and leadership of trained volunteers. Its purpose is exclusively educational and charitable.

Supported by Junior League and sponsored by the Cosmopolitan of Las Vegas, Harley Davidson of Las Vegas and with materials donated by Star Costume and Theatrical Supply, Fashion Forward is a fashion and design project created for high school students throughout Clark County School District.  The students compete to create garments that fall within specific guidelines and within a restricted timeframe, applying donated materials and staying within a specific theme.  The students designs are judged in a final runway show at the Fashion Show mall.

The 2015 winners were gifted a photoshoot in the Altf Studio along with hair and make up services donated by Make Up in the 702.  Here is a little peek at the designers modeling their own hand made, custom garments

Using Stockholm, Sweden as inspiration, first place winner, Ilian Angulo is wearing an impeccable two-layer blouse, striped coat and cigarette-style pant inspired by the high luxury and minimalism of Stockholm fashion.

Second Place winner, Grace Hutchins created a 1700’s inspired period piece with a modern twist from Venice, Italy! Grace used vintage looking fabric and lace along with hand-sewn pearls on the bodice.

As a fun little bonus, Grace also brought along another garment that she created that echoes the very popular “steampunk” fashion just in time for Mad Max!

The very sweet, outgoing thrid place winner, Veronica Macsurak composed a fully reversible dress and multi purpose cape/skirt overlay to recreate a piece of Mathilda Keshenskaya’s Russian romance as she used St. Petersburg, Russia as her inspiration.

These ladies are so very talented and we simply cannot wait to see where they take their inspirations, talents and hard work in their future!
