Potosi Mountain, NV. Maternity Session. I’ve always considered wedding photography as the opportunity to take the first “family portrait” as the couple comes together to form something new. Maternity sessions as well are more than just a woman showing off her belly but rather a continuing family portrait as the family starts to grow. We feel pretty lucky that we get to continue to document the family and create history through our photographs and albums. We photographed David and Maria’s wedding in 2017 (here) their love for the outdoors continued with a beautiful day at their cabin near Mt. Potosi just some 20 miles outside of las vegas.

The high desert with its landscapes of twisted juniper trees and abundance of light provide probably the best opportunity for one of the most popular photography styles the “light and airy” look. But longtime natives will know that up in the mountains the Nevada sky can change in a heartbeat and throw you some of the most dramatic vistas your way. Light and Airy just doesn’t do anything for a glorious sky, you have to bring out the serious lighting skills to do it any justice. Below, case in point. For a brief time, the Nevada sky throws out some of its majesty for Maria and David’s growing family.
