We talk a lot about photography style with couples and other wedding professionals and I’ve noticed lately that the most common terms used have been whittled down to two phrases…. “dark and moody” and “light and airy”.  Despite the fact that there are many ways to describe photography styles… Fine Art, Illustrative, Photojournalistic, Fashion, Natural, Traditional, Film Noir, Vintage, Still Life, Documentary, Editorial…. I could go on but I’ll spare you the reading.  It’s just something I’ve noticed lately.  Rebekah and Martin live in another state from us so when we first “met” it was over a video chat.  Rebekah explained that she had followed our work for about a decade – IMPRESSIVE – and that while she likes when we are “light and airy” she also likes our “dark and moody” work as well.  A Bride that noticed that we do both as well as others in between had our attention.  And we are so psyched to travel to the opposite coast to capture their wedding next Spring.  But it was an absolute treat when Rebekah told us they were heading to our state for their engagement session!  We took full advantage of some cool architecture near city center complete with a stop at Waldorf Astorias Skybar for a few signature cocktails before settling into the desert sunset out at Red Rock.  It was a perfect mix and we were sure to get some “light and airy” as well as “dark and moody” in.  We can’t wait to “East Coast” up their wedding and weave in some of our “West Coast magic”.
